It's been a few days without a cuteness update. Here are some pics we took of the little guy. He has been so much fun and some work too. We wouldn't want to give any of that up, though.

We had a little photo shoot with him. He was kind of red and splotchy but we got some cute pics anyway. Then again, we think all the pics of O-man are cute. We can't help it.

While Grandma was here she helped me give little Owen his first bath. He did pretty good but wasn't super excited about the water. Check out that sink. Green... HOT!

I loaded him up in the car seat to go to the Dr. and this is the look that he gave me. Yeah he's cute and bug-eyed. That's always a plus.

I guess that's all the cuteness that most people can handle in one update. We don't want to overload you.

He's Finally Here

Well, our long awaited little man has arrived. And not surprisingly we love him and wouldn't trade him for anything. Labor wasn't a walk in the park like I tried to tell myself it would be but we survived. Luckily everything went well and we are recovering.
So, from here on out you will be inundated with pictures of everything the little guy does. Right now he eats and sleeps and we watch his every move. He loves being on his right side and he is always trying to turn over. I shouldn't be surprised for nine months that was the side he preferred. We put him in his bouncer so he could get a tan today and I have to say it was pretty dang cute. But I'm a little biased. What do you think?

The Eagle has landed!

Huzzah! Our little man-cub saw fit to join us in the world today. I say "man-cub" because that kid is hairy! Despite being a bit hirsute, he's probably the most adorable child ever, maybe even today. His name is Owen Grant Johnson and he arrived with great fanfare at 3:52 am MST. He weighed in at 6 lbs 14 oz and a respectable 20 1/4 inches long. Not quite sure yet which of us he resembles more, i guess that will come. Right now though, I'm going with Grizzly Adams or maybe Brother Bear.

Michelle... what to say about the mommy? She was amazing! I can't believe how strong she was. She didn't want to show up at the hospital too soon, so she waited until she was only dilated to an 8.... AN 8!!!! She decided on an epidural and barely got it before it was too late. Luckily, the anesthesiologist was in the building and didn't have to come in from home. If she hadn't been there, Michelle wouldn't have had time and would've finished au natural. Mommy is doing fantastic and loving her little man. I'm so unbelievable proud of her.

Me? I did great too. I learned that I'm pretty good at counting to 10 a lot. I only got mildly queasy once and got a little bit rubber-legged. I got over it pretty quickly and finished strong. What a miracle, childbirth. I'm on cloud nine and wanted to share with all of you. I'm sure Michelle will fill you in as well. Love you all and good night.

No news is good news?

So, when your wife feels like she's coming up on her 13th month of pregnancy (and is NOT pleased about it), no news is good news.... right? WRONG! Everytime I call her during the day and ask how she's doing and she says "fine.... I feel fine.", I really only want her to not be fine. I want her to say "I'm freakin' horrible! Pain pain pain.... labor... ouch!!" Does that make me a sadistic creep? Even if it's for her own sake? I'm sure she's even more tired of the questions and having to say "Not Yet" to every person she talks to. Oh well, I guess it comes with the territory.

So, until she actually has the baby, no news is bad news for everybody reading this. It means that nothing exciting enough has happened that would give us reason to update this blog. BUUUUT, when something does happen, you can bet your sweet bippy that we'll inundate you with photos and stories and frustrations and whatever else comes out of our brains via our fingertips. Then you all will probably be "can we go back to that no-news thing? That worked pretty well."

Hopefully, we'll update this in the next day or two! (I'm trying out this optimism thing.... it feels weird).
